Share your stance on the future of DevOps

With AI, platform engineering, and automation evolving so fast, do you think traditional DevOps roles will grow even bigger or slowly change into something completely different?

Curious to hear what people working in tech think. What is your stance on the future of devops?

I don’t think DevOps is going away anytime soon, but the role is definitely evolving. A lot of repetitive work is being automated with AI and platform engineering, so DevOps engineers will spend less time on manual setup and more time on system design, security, scalability, and automation strategy.

The future of DevOps feels more like “platform and reliability engineering” where the focus is on building smooth developer workflows, managing cloud infrastructure, and making systems faster and more reliable with AI-assisted tools.

I feel DevOps isn’t disappearing; it’s just becoming smarter. DevOps was heavily focused on manual setup, deployment, and monitoring, but now AI and automation are taking over the repetitive stuff. That actually gives DevOps engineers more time to focus on scalability, security and faster innovation.
