I keep hearing that the placement situation is not good and may not improve soon. Why is it like this in the first place, and when do people expect things to get better? Just trying to understand the reality.
It feels bad right now, but it’s not random and it’s not just happening to you.
Companies hired aggressively after COVID and are now correcting that. So hiring has slowed down, budgets are tighter, and companies are being extra cautious. Fresh hiring is usually the first thing to take a hit.
At the same time, the number of graduates keeps increasing every year, but entry-level roles haven’t grown at the same pace. So competition feels much tougher even for the same jobs.
The key thing to remember is this phase is temporary. Bad placement cycles come and go.
What you can do:
- Focus on strong basics and practical skills instead of chasing trends
- Apply off-campus in parallel and do not depend only on college drives
- Stay consistent and patient, this phase will reward long term effort
