Very few companies are visiting our college for placements. What should I do?

I’m feeling frustrated with campus placements in my college since not many companies are coming. Opportunities seem very limited. How do students in this situation usually find jobs or move ahead?

I’ve been in a similar situation, so I’ll answer this honestly.

When very few companies visit your college, the first thing you should do is stop treating campus placements as your main plan. Think of them as a bonus. That mindset shift itself reduces a lot of stress.

In my case, my college also had limited placement opportunities. Instead of waiting for companies to show up, I started preparing for off-campus roles in parallel. I focused on one programming language, worked seriously on DSA, and built a couple of projects that I could clearly explain. I also started applying outside through LinkedIn, career pages, and referrals.

Another thing that helped was using the extra time wisely. Fewer campus drives meant more free time. I used that time to improve my skills instead of just waiting for placement season to get better.

Campus placements are not the only way to get a job. Many people from colleges with poor placement records still land good roles by preparing smartly and staying consistent. Focus on what you can control, and keep moving forward.
