How can an operations analyst become a data scientist?

I’m curious how someone working as an operations analyst can move into Data Science without starting their career from scratch. Would experience with reports, KPIs, and process improvement give them an advantage? What skills would they need to learn next, and how difficult is the transition in practice?

If you’re already an operations analyst, you’re not starting from scratch! Your experience with reports, KPIs, and process improvement gives you a good foundation.

I’d suggest learning Python, statistics, SQL, and machine learning next. Try applying these skills to real-world projects using operational data so you can showcase your practical knowledge.
