Freshers in Data Science 2026 are being asked LLMs, RAG pipelines, Hadoop, Spark, MLOps… basically production-level AI stacks.
At this point, is “fresher role” just a name while expectations match 1–2 years experience?
What’s the actual minimum skill stack needed to even get shortlisted today?
Honestly, the expectations for freshers have definitely gone up. Most companies don’t expect you to be an expert in everything, but having hands-on projects with Python, SQL, machine learning, data analysis, and at least basic exposure to LLMs, RAG, or MLOps can make a big difference. The goal isn’t to know every tool, but to show that you can learn quickly and build real-world projects. A strong portfolio often matters more than trying to master every trending technology.

Thanks! Good to know depth in projects matters more than trying to learn every trending tool.
